They say it's a new standard now, which is probably as revolutionary as 1080p was when it just came out. Everyone thought that it'll take years before prices go down, but mere 5 years made the prices drop several times. Everyone thought that Full HD content takes way too much space, but these days you can buy enough storage that's not too expensive. Moreover, at such high resolution the eye can no longer see the pixels, which many experienced when they got their phones made by a certain company with a fruit as a logo ) Seriously, you can install that TV in the wall, frame it and tell everyone it's a window and it'll be very hard to see the difference. I think that at this level it may be unnecessary to increase the resolution further as the eye won't be able to see all the details anyway. By the way, I was wondering why this technology emerged in TVs only now if they had it in phones and tablets before, so the consultant told me that the bigger the screen, the higher the chance of misbehaving or non-working pixels, so only now they managed to achieve a low enough error percentage.
